Important Information
Heart of England Garden Buildings make quality buildings that will last. We trust that your building will be a useful addition to your garden and would like you to read the following information to ensure it can be an asset for many years to come.
Base
All base work is the responsibility of the customer, as is the safe securing of buildings once installed. The base needs to be firm, level and square to ensure timber stability. If required, we can arrange base installation through one of our approved installers. Please note that we reserve the right not to install if the base is considered unsuitable upon delivery. Revisits are chargeable.
Timber
All timber used is quality Scandanavian redwood pine. Standard framing is 38mm x 50mm with 50mm x 50mm and 50mm x 75mm available as optional upgrades. Shiplap cladding is 16mm x 125mm as standard with 22mm loglap available as an optional upgrade. We would like to remind customers that timber is an organic product subject to naturally occurring changes caused by various environmental conditions. These changes can result in small movements within the structure that may at times result in small leaks. We would recommend brown silicone as gap filler if required.
Felt
For roof coverings we use 40kg heavy duty green mineral felt. Quality hexagonal felt shingles can be fitted on all buildings as an additional cost upgrade. Please note that on the Loxley and Claverdon summerhouse models, shingles are fitted as standard.
Floors
16mm floorboards are fitted as standard and can be upgraded to 22mm. To prevent rotting, floor joists must remain open, allowing air movement below the floor. 50mm x 50mm pressure treated bearers, which are guaranteed against rot for 15 years, are recommended and can be supplied and fitted for a small additional cost. Please ask
for details.
Treatment
All sections of our buildings are factory treated using a quality water based light brown preservative prior to delivery. We recommend a top coat (preferably spirit based) to be applied immediately after delivery and re-treated annually thereafter. For a small additional cost we can apply this for you in a choice of colours. Please ask for details. Tanalised pressure treated buildings are also available on selected models.
Hardware
Either black japanned, galvanised or antique finish depending on model. All ironmongery should be lubricated on a regular basis using oil. To adjust doors and windows, simply unscrew hinges and realign as necessary.
Glazing
3mm horticultural glass is fitted in all buildings. The windows can be cleaned using ordinary indoor window cleaner. Toughened glass or 4mm clear polycarbonate can be supplied as an additional cost upgrade.
